Nate loves spaghetti and one of his favorite places to go is the Old Spaghetti Factory. Last weekend when Scott was out of town, he asked to go and I said yes, but spoke too soon. By the time we got around to going, I decided it was not in Lila's best interest to drive 20 minutes to sit down to eat. Or really it wasn't in my best interest:)
So I had to do some groveling, but I convinced him that we should go when Dad got home. Well on Saturday afternoon, Scott & I decided it still wasn't in Lila's best interest (or ours really) to go sit at a restaurant - she's a bit restaurant challenged these days. So I took Nate by myself and it was a fabulous evening.
We also ran some errands while we were out and while waiting in the long line at Sam's (who knew everybody goes to Sam's on Saturday night??), he was telling me about this non-fiction book they read at school. He's big into the fiction / non-fiction distinction. It was a book about Amazing Real Life Rescues.
First he tells me about a girl that got bit by an alligator. Then he goes on to tell about a little girl that fell down a well and was rescued. I said, "Was her name Jessica?" He was shocked. "How did you know that????" So I told him that I was little girl when that happened (actually I was 10) and I remember being at a Charleston Blue Jay basketball game when they announced over the loud speaker that Jessica had been rescued. He was very impressed.
My sweet boy, so fun to spend one on one time with him. I look forward to the next time!
