Weekend Activities



I was very thankful that my Mom decided to come see us on Friday. Sometimes you just need your mom. And I needed mine. We hung out until Nate got out of school and then we headed to the Zoo for the Zoo Parents event. It was a blast. I think we missed it last year and well, I missed it. It was nice to be back.

We are growing another Zoo lover. Lila loves to be free and we let her. Even though it takes twice as long.

The orangatuan was out and near the glass. Lila was all up in the business at first, but quickly decided "Yiya not yike 'at."

Even though I love this rock, I often wonder if the person that actually decided to put it at the Zoo exit was a parent. So hard to get away.

To continue the fun, we went to the Boathouse for lunch. Lila was decked out in her Missouri gear. Um, yeah. It didn't work.

My handsome boy. He went to his first art class today and had so much fun. I'm so thankful to live in a city where we can take advantage of such things. Art makes him so happy.

If Georgia wins tonight, I think I'll have to do reverse psychology and dress her in GA gear next week. I've been doing every other week but unfortunately didn't take any pictures last week so it looks like I'm partial to Missouri.  I am.

Relaxing Weekend & Normal

We had a relaxing weekend around here. One without taking too many pictures, but with lots of thinking, lounging and college football. We hung out around our house for the most part, which was refreshing. I only left the house once on Saturday and none on Sunday. Can't remember the last time I did that, but it was nice.

 

Lila is such a character. I just can't say it enough. She is starting to string many words together to make sentences. Sentences straight from her brain and not just repeating what we say. It's neat and we love to hear her express herself.

 

She loves to color. Mostly with Nate's supplies. But I made her a little area on her table with paper and crayons in a coffee cup. She likes it, but Nate's supplies are still better. She also likes to color on the wall and the table. Thank goodness for Magic Eraser.  

 Our sweet boy lost his second tooth on Thursday night. He pulled it himself again. The permanent tooth was just about even wih the baby tooth so I guess it was time for it to come out. But I continue to be thankful that Nate will pull his own teeth. I hope it continues. One of his front top teeth is loose now - I feel the avalanche of teeth falling out is upon us.

 

Thankfully the Tigers and Dawgs both won this weekend. I know the Dawgs record is better than the Tigers, but I haven't switched the flag out front yet. Thinking about it. Or not.

 

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up. Heck, they're all busy. But these are busier than normal. Whatever normal is anymore:) 

Worries & Workin On It

I've sat down to write a post several times since Sunday. In the spirit of blogging more and all. Yet, my thoughts are so jumbled, I erase and stare at the blank screen. My thoughts range from huge, epic events like the anniversary of September 11th to small, mundane events like what the heck are we going to eat for dinner tonight. Then there are those thoughts in the middle. That's where all the true worries lie.

Worries about Nate growing up and doing things on his own outside of the safe walls of our house. Worries about Lila and her spunky explosive-in-a-physical way personality. Worries that it's been 11 years today at my current job and the struggles that it still continues to bring. Worries that my comfort zone is about to change, even though I know it needs to desperately. And worries that I'm not thankful enough for the comforts and security that I already have as Scott & I look into the future.

Thank goodness for Scott, my kids, and college football or I'd pretty much be a mess all the time.  And Matthew 6:34 came away from the binding a long time ago. "Do not be worried about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day." If only I could truly grasp that. Workin on it.

GA/MO Weekend

I'm going to get back on a regular blogging schedule soon. Hopefully. Maybe. Yes, I am. Even my mom said this weekend "you haven't updated your blog in over a week!" Guess that's a marching order:)

 

A big weekend at our house. Missouri's first SEC game and against Georgia at that. We had fun preparing and welcoming our Georgia friends to Missouri.

 

We started off the weekend with dinner with our good friends Jane,Rob & Libby (missing from the photo). It was so fun to have them all here at the same time. We missed Mimi & Paka even more since we usually see them at the same time as these folks! But we had a great time and were so thankful that we were able to get together.

Then Saturday morning came and we all had to decide who were cheering for...well I decided mostly. But Nate I think felt sorry for Scott to be the lone Georgia fan, so he crossed over:) So hard to get a good picture of these 2 lately.

 

 I had this sweet lady in Georgia make this Missouri shirt for Lila. I know she had a great time doing it! It turned out so cute and I loved it!

 

 When she was done taking pictures, she said "Bout this?" And proceeded to do a half hand stand. Future gymnast for sure.

 

 Then she said "Watch Iss Mommy!" No hands. Seems I've heard that somewhere before.

 

 Nate attended a birthday party on Saturday morning so Lila & I had some time to kill, hence more pictures of her.

 

 This picture warms my heart. Our good friend Richard came into town Friday night so that he could be at the game. Richard is one of Scott's best friends and he was the best man at our wedding. We had so much fun catching up and just being together. Love him!

 

 Love this one too...so special to be able to go to the game with my Dad. I love that we (and my mom) share Mizzou as our alma mater. Go Tigers!

 

 

We had great seats and overall it was a fun game. For those of you that watched, you know that when it was over, it was over. But we stayed until the very end. I'm proud of Mizzou for being such good fans and really bringing their A game to the real game. Great fans and so much spirit!

 I'm honestly glad this game is out of the way. It was kinda hard cheering against Georgia! I've cheered in parallel for the Bulldogs along with the Tigers for many many years and will be glad when we are playing a different opponent next week!
