Airport, Englines & the Park

Friday was a much anticipated day because Emily, Bluet & Ilona were arriving in St. Louis. They are going to be in Missouri for most of the month before they (and Ben of course) move to Switzerland. You can keep up with their adventures on their blog

Lila & I were tasked to pick them up so we got there in plenty of time and waited in the cell phone lot. Which was interesting in itself, since Emily didn't have a cell phone with her. Lila occupied her time in Thane's old carseat that we would be using for Ilona.
We picked them up and were very glad to see them, yet I got no pictures. Before they came out, our driving around and around the pick up lane was met with excitement, not the kind of excitement anyone needed. Let's just say I am vowing to pay better attention when I am driving from now on because on Friday I experienced just how one look away from the road, even while going 3 mph, can cause danger for those outside your car.  I can only think that this is a lesson about distracted driving that I needed to learn. Lesson learned. In a big big way.

After all the excitement, I was still a little shaken up, but was glad Emily & the girls had gotten here safely. We cruised on to Steak N Shake to get the girls some lunch. When this happened....

I texted the picture to Scott (not taken while driving and not texted while driving:) and told him this light had just come on in my car. It's the check engine light of course. And I am starting to think we should all just stay inside the house for the rest of the day.

After dropping off my car at the mechanic, walking home, walking to get Nate from school, walking home, then walking back to get my car, I was pretty exhausted all around. It was a doozy of a day for sure, but I was so glad Emily & the girls were there to soften all the blows. And I was thankful that we live where we do and I could walk to everywhere I needed to go. But when Friday was over, I was relieved.

On Saturday, we were supposed to meet my Mom half-way to exchange the Corse-Collins peeps, but with my car being what it was, we decided my mom would just come all the way up. So we played at the park while we waited.

It was good for my soul. And we were all so glad to have Emily & the girls here. Nate, Lila & Bluet all slept in the same room, without a peep, and I will agree with my mom who said, "Y'all have arrived" when she heard how good the kids slept.

More on our weekend in a bit!
