A few stories that I'll want to remember...
During Dogwood Azalea 5K registration, Nate declares he is hungry. The child eats approximately 22 meals per day, yet I can't quite adjust my thinking to the fact that he is not a toddler that survives on air anymore. So we walked over the park to see what they had to eat. It took a while, because everywhere I looked, there was someone from my past that we just had to stop and visit with for a minute. Finally, we made it to the food stand. He picked a corn dog and Lila had to have one too, a first for her. We were walking back and Nate says to me, "Mom, it's sorta weird around here." I snickered and said, "Why Nate?" He replies, "There's all these people that know you. But I don't know them. So I'm just trying to figure out when you met all these people." Try living here for 18+ years. And parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents that lived here before that. That'll do it every time.
Lila & Nate fight like no other brother and sister have ever fought. Ha Ha. So when they are getting along, I generally allow whatever activity they are getting along over to proceed. We were in Lila's room and Nate comes in with a stuffed animal and declared "What goes up, must come down!" Then he throws up the stuffed animal and when it falls, we all laugh. Lila decides to try it. She throws a few and they are laughing hysterically. Whatever works. I walk out of the room and to the kitchen. I hear a hard something drop on the living room floor. It's a Duplo block. So I tell Lila to be careful not to hit herself in the face.
A few more seconds go by and I hear a crash and something breaking. I run over and it's a picture frame busted all over the floor. I asked Lila if she did this on purpose? She replied, "Yes, Mom, what goes up, must come down!" I started to argue the fact that it didn't need to GO UP. But instead we have a discussion about not breaking Mom's things. Needless to say, this will be an outside activity in the future.
