To the Dad That Lives at 7406
Scott is the most wonderful Dad. There are no boundaries to his dedication to Nate and our household. I could not be a good mom without him by my side. Thank you Scott for everything you do for Nate and me. Happy Father's Day! We love you!
Ten Reasons I Love My Dad
So I'm a little late with Father's Day, but better late than never. I actually got to see my Dad this year on Father's Day because we were passing through Charleston on our way back to St. Louis. He is the best.
Top Ten (in no particular order):
1. He calls me by my full name, Abatha Naja Corse Boyle, or ANCB for short. Helps me remember that, yes, my parents did in fact name me after a snake.
2. He remembers memorable days...like when Billy Joe McAllister fell off the Tallahatchie Bridge (June 3rd) and The Day the Music Died (February 3rd) and sends me and my sister an email on those days to remind us.
3. He has great quotes like, "It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." It means when you are hot/cold/hungry/tired, do something about it instead of whining (for those of you that know me well can sense that I heard this ALOT!)
4. He taught me not to be a quitter (even though I'm sure it was hard when I wanted desperately to quit running track in 9th grade).
5. He exposed me to many places, people, and things while I was growing up and taught me to have an open mind (even when we were in Big Sur, California when I was in 7th grade and while looking up at this beautiful waterfall, I said "Why did you bring me to this dumb place for?")
6. He makes me think about stuff like turning off lights when you aren't in a room, closing doors to rooms you aren't using, and turning off the water when you go out of town so that your house doesn't get flooded.
7. He disciplined me to take a 7 minute shower (with 3 kids getting ready for school in the morning, hot water was a commodity), therefore it doesn't take me very long to get ready now.
8. He works very hard and plays hard and taught me the importance of having "recreational skills" to round out my life.
9. He enjoys life. He enjoys being with my mom. He enjoys being with his family.
10. He loves me very much.

Sweet Noah...
Our sweet nephew Noah celebrated his 1st birthday on Sunday. His baseball themed party was held on Saturday at Mimi & Paka's. Nate and I were there for the cake smashing festivities. Noah is a cute, sweet, active 1-year old. He walks like crazy and has fun chasing Nate around...except when Nate gets too close to his beloved Mimi...then the pushing begins! They are very cute together and I'm so glad Nate has such a great cousin.

Happy 1st Birthday Noah! We are glad we could share it with you!
Amanda made a beautiful, yummy cake - she is so talented. I would have never had the patience to do it!

Happy 35th Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary Mary & Kevin! We love you!
Small Pleasures
Nate spent the week at Mimi & Paka's house last week and I joined him on Wednesday. While sitting outside in the scorching Georgia heat, Paka came up with a great idea to let Nate slide down the hill on a piece of cardboard. He loved it! He even coaxed his Mimi into sliding down hill too...yes, I got photos, but I promised Mary I would NOT post them on my blog!
Here is a short video of the activity...beware of the loud shout of praise from me at the end...

The Little Fish
Up until now, Nate has not really liked to swim. For those of you that know how much I like the water, this has always stressed me a little...:) He finally decided to become a fish last weekend at a hotel pool. When I started talking about swimming lessons, my mom said, "Why don't you teach him how to swim?" No way - there is a reason I always sent parents away during swim lessons...
